First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to read this letter – pleading for help - updates below.
My name is Francois Zietsman and I want to give you a brief background - I was in a serious car accident 29 years ago, and since then had many challenges in life like Arthritis, lost my right eye and my left leg duo to infection etc… I don’t want to take too much of your time by explaining all detail - More details can be read on my testimony by clicking here.
I know that you probably receive many letters regarding this kind of help, and many times it’s difficult knowing the whole truth, but you are most welcome to meet me by visiting my website MyPrayer, and understanding more about my life - and reading my testimony as mentioned above.
My dream is to help others in need and that is why I started MyPrayer Ministries website – God laid it on my heart and I started this website in 2007 because it was my only way of really reaching out as I am disabled and it was easier to do it from my computer as I don’t have any transport to travel far, and using my wheelchair to drive everywhere I need to go.
As you will read in my testimony, I can’t walk as I lost my left leg and my right hip was removed in 2005 duo to infection. My right knee got stiff because of traction and the Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I can’t bend or straighten it at all. As the doctors call it – A girdle stone. The doctors told me that I would never walk again which makes life very difficult. Jesus has given me the dream to walk again despite what the doctors said then, and I also received word from God. I told the doctor that I will walk again and that I will someday come to him showing him that nothing is impossible with God – that I will chase my dream and that God will walk the road to recovery with me and use me as a testimony of His goodness.
I went to a few doctors since then for opinions as I was chasing my dream. I wanted to have a knee replacement in my stiff knee, and get prosthesis for my amputated leg, which will give me the ability to walk again. I was told twice that a knee replacement is not a way to go. Firstly because my muscles shortened because of the bended stiff knee, and the good possibility to get infection again which could cause my life. Secondly it will cost around R80 000 to do such an operation that I can’t afford. Despite this and many prayers and God’s promises that I will walk again, but that a knee replacement was not the way to go, God laid a very difficult decision on my heart, which I took very difficult to swallow - to amputate my right leg as well.
It took me 5 years to date to receive this confirmation from God about 2 weeks ago, and trusting Him fully for the road ahead. I first talked to my physiotherapist who told me that it was a good option, and then I went to the doctor (Heyns) who also told me that it was a very good choice, and will give me a good chance to walk again – with two amputated legs – two prosthetics. My physiotherapist also informed me that if I make the choice, that I should not waste any time because the quicker the better as the longer I remain in the wheelchair, the more difficult it’s going to get because of the Arthritis – the longer I remain in a sitting position, the stiffer I will become.
I made the choice and went to see Doctor Heyns Wednesday (17/02/2010) and asked him how soon he can do the amputation. He also informed me that the sooner the better and he scheduled me for Monday the 1st of March 2010.
The reason for this letter is to ask your help as I cannot afford this operation or the prosthesis which I will need soon. The operation will cost me around R17 000 which I don’t have (including theater, equipment, hospital bed for 3 days). The prosthesis which I will need soon will cost me around R60 000 - R80 000. I plead for your help and if God lays it on your heart and you see your way open to help me reach my dream to please help me financially. I am desperately seeking your help as I cannot afford it.
